Naturopathy
"Naturopathy is the perfected Science of Human Wholeness, and it includes all agencies, methods, systems, regimes, practices and ideals of natural origin and divine sanction whereby human health may be restored, 'enhanced, maintained." Edward Earle Purinton

The origins of naturopathy can be traced to ancient Greece . Hippocrates, the "Father of modern medicine" once described the human organism as a holistic combination of body, mind and spirit linked to the four elements of the natural world. This organism that is body, mind and spirit possesses an inherent capacity to generate self healing, given appropriate conditions. The role of the Naturopath is to facilitate this process through teaching the natural way of life which advocates fresh air, pure water, wholesome foods and exercise to promote and maintain optimum wellbeing.
The study of naturopathy includes herbal medicine, diet and nutrition, mineral therapy and naturopathic diagnostic techniques including iris analysis, along with a general understanding of many other forms of therapy.
The principles of Naturopathic medicine unite the profession and the following principles are the foundations upon which the naturopathic profession is built.
NATUROPATHIC PRINCIPLES
1. Primum non nocere – first do no harm
Illness is a purposeful process of the organism. The process of healing includes the generation of symptoms which are, in fact, an expression of the life force attempting to heal itself. Therapeutic actions should be complementary to and synergistic to this healing process. The Naturopaths actions can support or antagonize the actions of Vis medicatrix naturae - the healing power of nature. Therefore, methods designed to suppress symptoms without removing the underlying causes are considered harmful and to be avoided or minimized.
2. Docere – doctor as teacher
The co-operative doctor-patient relationship has inherent therapeutic benefits. The Naturopaths major role is to educate and encourage the patient to take responsibility for their own health. The Naturopath is a catalyst for healthful change, empowering and motivating the patient to assume responsibility. It is the patient, not the Naturopath, who ultimately creates/accomplishes healing. The Naturopath by teaching with hope, knowledge, and understanding, acts to enable the patient to heal.
3. Tolle causam – identify and treat the cause.
Illness does not occur without cause. Underlying causes of disease must be discovered and removed or treated before a person can recover completely from illness. Symptoms express the body's attempt to heal, but are not the cause of the disease. Symptoms therefore, should not be suppressed by treatment. Causes may occur on many levels including mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. The Naturopath must evaluate fundamental underlying causes on all levels, directing treatment at root causes rather than at symptomatic expression.
4. Vis medicatrix naturae – the healing power of nature
The body has an inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. The healing process is ordered and intelligent; nature heals through the response of the life force. The Naturopaths role is to facilitate this process, to identify and remove obstacles to health and recovery, and to establish or restore a healthy internal and external environment.
5. Tolle totum – treat the whole person
Health and disease are conditions of the whole organism, a whole involving complex interaction of many factors. The Naturopath must treat the whole person by taking these factors into account. The harmonious functioning of physical, emotion, mental and spiritual aspects are essential to recovery from and prevention of disease. This requires a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment.

Blood Terrain Analysis

Blood Terrain Analysis is a cutting edge technology which allows examination of a fresh drop of living blood under that has a closed-circuit video system which projects the microscopic image onto a computer screen. This is to allow both the practitioner and the client visual access to the condition of the blood just as it is in the body . Blood Terrain Analysis is an excellent means of viewing the red blood cells, various types of white blood cells, platelets, and blood plasma simultaneously for deficiencies in the client's health, diet or lifestyle.
The test itself is quite simple. A drop of blood is taken from your finger and placed on a microscope slide for viewing. The image from the slide is transmitted to a computer monitor so you can observe along with Infinitive Health's Blood Terrain Analyst, what the blood cells are revealing . The drop of blood is magnified up to 100 times and to the trained examiner many accurate observations can be made.
The presence of parasites or bacteria active somewhere in the body, damaged cells, cholesterol crystals, and uric acid crystals are easily identified. The size and shape of the red blood cells indicate nutritional deficiencies , digestive problems, absorption problems, and the damaging effects of free radicals. Organ malfunction is also evident in the live blood analysis. It allows the direct inspection and interpretation of over fifty possible features of the bloodstream, red blood cells, and white blood cells.
Who should have their blood analyzed? Everyone should be concerned with the state of their health and wellbeing, and this is an ideal way of finding deficiencies and early warning signs of degenerative disease. With this procedure, we can implement ways of increasing your health. Even children are able to be involved with this cutting edge technology, offering them the best possible start to their life and creating lasting habits of good health and nutrition.
At Infinitive Health, we understand that parents need a way to make sure they are providing the best for their children. We are dedicated to making this kind of technology available to all generations.
With this in mind we are fully capable of treating children and can provide parents with the help or assurance needed to raise a happy, healthy family.

Weight Loss

Malnutrition is usually thought of as a small child with skinny arms and legs with a bulging belly in Africa . Obesity is also a form of malnutrition. How you ask? By our bodies being over fed and undernourished. Diets high in processed sugars, high in saturated fats and full of preservatives and additives create a high calorie intake that does not get expended with our current lifestyles.
FACT - Over 62% of adult Australia males and 47% of adult females are overweight or obese. This is a worldwide trend.
So how did we end up like this? There are a number of factors contributing to the appalling figure shown above. Today's society is structured so that both parents find it essential to work, making it necessary for children to be placed in Day care centres where foods are prepared on mass. Then when it comes to dinnertime, it is so much easier to pick something up on the way home. It would be fantastic if these foods were nutritious and healthy, but unfortunately they aren't.
So how are we supposed to know what is ‘healthy'? Although there are a few government advertisements on television and basic teaching to children at schools of what is a healthy diet, it becomes difficult to really know. Advertising by food manufacturers lead us to believe that their products provide so much of the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of such and such a vitamin, or mineral; that we quite happily put them into our shopping trolleys.
Food manufacturers are required to have their products labelled with its contents. That is fine as long as you are either trained in nutrition or a biochemist. Pick up any packet on a supermarket shelf and see if any of the names (chemical or numerical) actually mean anything to you.
There are many diet programs available to help rectify the growing waistlines, but how many of them actually work? How many of them feed the cells of the body with the required nutrition while losing excess fat at the same time? Ours does. The Infinitive Health Wellness Centre's diet plan works by feeding the body with the energy reserves that it is storing (fat) while at the same time ensuring that there is absolutely no compromise to your health.
Our aim is to regain and maintain your health by teaching you how to do it.

Fertility

Preconception care can make a positive difference to your health, your partners' health and to the health of your child. The purpose of taking preconception care is to prepare your body for pregnancy, birth, lactation and beyond. Increasing evidence indicates that the way we were nourished and grew in the womb can have an important impact on our health as an adult. It is now recognised that seeking information and health care prior to trying to conceive a baby is of vital importance. This information can help prepare you physically and emotionally for both pregnancy and parenthood.
Conception preparation should ideally occur for at least four months prior to trying to fall pregnant (Naish and Roberts, 1998). If this is not possible, try for at least one months' preparation. Preconception care improves your chances of falling pregnant more easily, having a healthy pregnancy, a health baby, aiding in the mothers recovery after the birth and adequate milk flow for breastfeeding.
So what happens if pregnancy hasn't occurred? Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system that affects the male or female with almost equal frequency.
Naturopathy can help to alleviate fertility problems associated with both male and female infertility by improving total body health through its promotion of a healthy diet, exercise and a positive attitude, all of which are crucial to an individual's reproductive health, as it improves the chances of getting pregnant.
One manner in which naturopathic treatments help to increase one's chances of getting pregnant is through their promotion of a healthy, balanced diet. This includes the removal of damaging toxins such as caffeine, pharmaceutical drugs, recreational drugs such as cigarettes, alcohol and highly processed foods that contain large amounts of additives and preservatives.
Regular exercise promotes healthy weight, which is critical to female fertility, as both being underweight or overweight have been shown to lead to female infertility. 17 to 20% of a woman body weight in must be fat in order to ovulate and menstruate regularly, while obesity has been linked to decreased pregnancy rate. (17 to 20% body fat is a healthy percentage)
Naturopathic treatment of male infertility focuses on improving sperm quantity, sperm quality, and overall male reproductive health. Research has discovered that sperm counts have fallen by almost 50% since the 1930s. The reason appears to be both environmental and dietary. If this is so, improving diet and making healthy lifestyle choices should positively impact male reproductive health.
As each persons' life and body are different, a multi-modality approach would be adopted in the treatment for preconception care and for infertility. A combination of diet, supplementation, exercise, lifestyle improvements, stress management, herbs, flower essences and other methods may be selected in accordance with the needs of the individual.
